May is here! Life Is Back… Let’s Not Lose Ourselves in It
May shows up and everything starts to feel… alive again.
The weather is better.
The days are longer.
People are making plans again.
Work picks up.
Life feels fuller.
And honestly?
It feels good.
After months of slower, heavier energy…
there’s a part of you that’s ready for it.
But Here’s the Shift
This isn’t the same kind of tired we talked about before.
This isn’t winter exhaustion.
This is something different.
It’s:
busy
full
a little scattered
a little “go, go, go”
You have energy…
…but it’s going in a lot of directions at once.
A Real-Life Moment
The other day I was outside, finally enjoying the weather…
And instead of just being there, I caught myself:
Thinking about what I needed to do next
Planning the rest of the day
Running through my to-do list
All while standing in the middle of something I had been waiting months for.
And I had that moment of:
“Wait… slow down. You’re missing this.”
That’s May.
Not burned out.
Not exhausted.
Just… not fully present.
This Season Isn’t About Slowing Down
Let’s be clear…
You don’t need to pull back from life.
You don’t need to say no to everything.
You don’t need to force stillness.
May is meant to be lived.
But…
You do need small moments that bring you back into your body
so you don’t get lost in everything happening around you.
A May Yoga Reset
This time of year isn’t about stopping everything.
It’s about staying connected while you’re moving through it.
Try This: “Move It Out” Reset
At some point during your day—when you feel:
Stiff
Scattered
Or like you’ve been in one position too long
Pause for a minute and:
Reach your arms overhead like you’re stretching first thing in the morning
Gently twist side to side (like you’re wringing out your spine a little)
Roll your shoulders back a few times
Shake out your hands
That’s it.
No mat. No perfect form. No overthinking.
Why it works:
This isn’t about “doing yoga.”
This is about:
✔ getting out of your head
✔ bringing movement back into your body
✔ releasing tension before it builds up
Real-life version:
Do this:
between tasks
outside for a minute
while waiting for something
in your kitchen
Breathwork for “Too Much Noise in My Head”
Not every moment needs calm breathing.
Sometimes your body doesn’t need to slow down…
It needs to release something.
Try This:
When your brain feels loud, busy, or overloaded:
Take a breath in through your nose…
Then exhale with a soft sigh or audible “haaa” out of your mouth.
Do it again.
Let it be:
a little messy
a little audible
not controlled
Do that 3–5 times.
Why it works:
Your body naturally uses sighing to regulate stress.
You’re not forcing calm.
You’re allowing your system to release pressure instead of holding it in.
Real-life version:
Do this:
in your car
walking between tasks
stepping outside for a minute
A May Meditation: “Let It Be Easy for a Minute”
Because not every meditation needs silence, stillness, or perfection.
Try This:
Pick one moment in your day…
And for 60 seconds, decide:
“I’m not going to fix, plan, or improve anything right now.”
Let things be:
the mess
the to-do list
the unfinished stuff
You’re not ignoring it.
You’re just not engaging with it for a minute.
Why it works:
A lot of mental exhaustion comes from constant:
Fixing
Planning
Thinking ahead
This gives your brain a break from being “on.”
Real-life version:
Do this:
standing in your kitchen
sitting in your car
outside in the sun
A May Reminder
You don’t have to slow your life down to stay grounded.
You just have to stay connected to yourself while it’s happening.
Because this season?
It moves fast.
And you deserve to actually feel it—not just keep up with it.
None of this needs to look like yoga, meditation, or breathwork to work.
If things start to feel a little too full, a little too fast, or like you’re getting pulled in every direction…
You’re not doing anything wrong.
You’re just adjusting to a new pace.
And if you want support learning how to stay grounded in it…
I’m here.
Let’s get Unfukked — together.
