Summer Is Fully Here… Are You Actually In It?
Somehow, summer went from:
“Finally, the weather is changing…”
to:
“How is it already July?”
The kids are out of school.
The days are long.
The flowers are blooming.
The beaches are open.
Vacations, cookouts, festivals, yardwork, family plans, and summer projects have filled the calendar.
Life feels brighter.
Warmer.
More open.
And after waiting through colder, darker months, it feels good to have energy again.
But summer can also move fast.
Really fast.
We Wait for Summer… Then Rush Through It
There is something about this season that makes us feel like we should be doing more.
We should be outside.
We should be making plans.
We should be enjoying every beautiful day.
We should be getting things done while the weather is nice.
And before we realize it, something that was supposed to feel freeing starts to feel like another schedule we are trying to keep up with.
You may have more energy than you did during the winter.
But that energy might also feel:
scattered
overstimulated
restless
inconsistent
pulled in too many directions
You are not necessarily exhausted.
You may just be moving so quickly that your body has not had a chance to catch up with everything your mind wants to do.
Summer Changes the Body’s Rhythm
Longer daylight, warmer temperatures, changing routines, travel, outdoor activity, and later evenings can all affect how you feel.
You might stay up later because it is still light outside.
You may eat differently because your schedule is less predictable.
You may spend more time in the heat without realizing how depleted you are becoming.
You might be doing more physically while giving yourself less time to recover.
That does not mean you need to pull away from summer.
It means your body may need a little extra support while you enjoy it.
A Summer Yoga Reset: Open, Stretch, Come Back
Summer energy tends to pull us outward.
Toward plans.
Toward people.
Toward activity.
This simple movement brings some of that energy back into your body.
Try This:
Stand with your feet comfortably apart.
Reach both arms overhead and take a slow breath in.
Lean gently to one side.
Come back to the center.
Lean gently to the other side.
Lower your arms and roll your shoulders backward a few times.
Then pause with both feet on the ground.
Notice where you are.
That is it.
No mat.
No workout clothes.
No perfect yoga pose.
Why It Helps
This small movement can help you:
✔ create space through your sides and upper body
✔ release tension from driving, sitting, working, or traveling
✔ reconnect with your body instead of staying inside your thoughts
✔ shift your attention back to the present moment
Real-Life Version
Do this:
after getting out of the car
while standing outside
before leaving for your next activity
after working in the yard
while waiting for everyone else to get ready
Breathwork for Hot, Busy Energy
Sometimes summer energy does not feel stressful in the traditional sense.
It feels like excitement mixed with pressure.
You are enjoying yourself—but your nervous system is still taking in a lot.
Try This:
Breathe in gently through your nose.
Exhale slowly through your mouth as though you are softly cooling a spoonful of hot food.
Do not force the breath.
Just let the exhale be a little longer than the inhale.
Repeat three to five times.
Why It Helps
A slower exhale can send your body a simple message:
You do not have to rush through this moment.
This is not about making yourself completely calm.
It is about creating a little more space inside the pace of your day.
Real-Life Version
Try it:
sitting near the water
before walking into a busy event
after being outside in the heat
when everyone around you feels loud
before going to bed after a full day
A Summer Meditation: Notice What Is Already Here
You do not need to sit with your eyes closed.
You do not need silence.
You only need one minute.
Try This:
Pause wherever you are and notice:
One thing you can see.
One thing you can hear.
One thing you can feel against your skin.
Maybe it is:
sunlight through the trees
birds or lawnmowers in the distance
warm air on your arms
your feet in the grass
water moving near the shore
flowers opening in the yard
Do not analyze it.
Do not photograph it.
Do not turn it into something you need to share.
Just let yourself experience it.
You Do Not Have to Make Summer Perfect
You do not have to take a big vacation.
You do not have to attend every event.
You do not have to create a picture-perfect summer.
You do not have to squeeze something meaningful out of every sunny day.
Some summer days will be exciting.
Some will be productive.
Some will be slow.
Some will be hot, messy, loud, or completely ordinary.
They still count.
A Summer Reminder
The goal is not to slow summer down.
We cannot.
The goal is to be present enough that we actually remember how it felt.
Let yourself enjoy the warmth.
Let yourself rest when the heat drains you.
Let yourself change plans.
Let yourself sit outside without accomplishing anything.
Let yourself be where your feet are—even if it is only for one minute.
Summer is fully here.
You deserve to experience it, not just keep up with it.
And when life starts moving faster than your body can comfortably follow, come back to your breath, your movement, and the moment directly in front of you.
Let’s get Unfukked—together.
